The Hero of Thyme

The Hero of Thyme

It turns out that I’m not very good at having a single hobby and focusing. I’m all over the place.

As might belie the title, I am a fervent fan of the Legend of Zelda series. I must have completed Ocarina of Time about 7 times during my latter two years at university, and I dove into every nook and cranny of Breath of the Wild‘s Hyrule for the better part of the lockdown year. I sailed the seas of the Wind Waker and soared in Skyward Sword; I never derailed from Spirit Tracks, and muddled through numerous other titles in my pointy green cap.

But my favorites remain, in equal positions, Ocarina and Wild . Playing music, cooking food, wandering in the woods, inhabiting a fantasy, and the odd bit of side obsession are all the traits that make the me of today.

I love a little fantasy world – magic, dragons (ferocious and cute alike), cards and dice. I can’t say I have much time for full-on Dungeons and Dragons campaigning, but I’d love a good halfway house.

If you ever walk with me in woodland, don’t expect to go far too fast – I will stop at every moss covered stump to imaginate its denizens, marvel at every sprouting branch in spring and the quirky little marvels of life, listen for every bird call and sing back a response, and Spot. Every. Fungus.

I’m a sucker for a good lilt and play a few tunes – Scots and Irish trad are my favorite to play and sing, and partial to most Celtic/pseudo-Celtic/neo-pagan melodies.

I don’t hoover up anime and manga the same way I used to, but it’s still a significant part of my life~ :3

So what’s going to go up on this blog ?

Expect a little bit of game design ranting, recipe and ingredients commentary, culture comparison and etymology, tunes, and pics.

It turns out I’m not very good at having a single hobby and focusing. I’m all over the place.
